I haven't crafted for nearly a week, but as I was up early today and had some time before I needed to go out, I thought I'd check out the current challenge over on Tag Tuesday. It is Edgar Allen Poe and I decided to make a quick tag.
As I needed to be quick, I used the top layer of a paper towel mop up sheet to start the background. It was adhered to a #8 manilla tag, sealed, dried and trimmed. For further interest, I stamped the script stamp from the Journaling set (Claritystamp) all over the tag in Library Green Archival ink. I dragged black Dreamweaver embossing paste through the mini feather stencil (also from Claritystamp). I then stamped the large clock face from the Clocks & Cogs set (Claritystamp) in Versamark ink. This was heat embossed using the Haematite EP from the Lustre set by Stampendous. I die cut one of the ravens from the Sizzix thinlits Ravens & Feathers set (Tim Holtz) out of packaging. This was given a coat of black gesso and dried before being added to the tag. Because the embossing paste was not yet fully dry, I was able to embed the claws into the feather. To finish, I used the Letterbox Alphabet from Claritystamp to add the word 'Nevermore' at the top of the tag. It was stamped in Versamark ink, a letter at a time, and heat embossed in detail black EP. I followed the edge of the clock face to mimic the shape of the feather at the bottom.
