A Little Bird Told Me...

The latest Abstract Layout die from Clarity Crafts comes with a set of Woodland and Birds stamps.  I had fun playing with a gel plate for my first two cards - this is the first of them.

WOYWW 790/10: Made It!

Yay I made it to the summer holidays and am already enjoying lie ins and relaxation.  Welcome to WOYWW, led for 15 years by the fabulous Julia who kindly trusted me to keep things going.

There are far more interesting desks to visit via the link than mine - I posted samples off on Monday and have more to make this week.  I couldn't resist the new Antarctica companion paper from Clarity which makes set #8 and is full of gorgeous blues, purples and green papers.
Spot the last day of term lol.
My big job for this week is to go car hunting - after I have had my car valeted inside and out.  Going to visit the local Toyota show room where my sister has purchased her last couple of cars.  Will make sure I know what discounts are available to teachers before I go and have left it near the end of the month as that is when targets need to be met!  Wish me luck.  I hope that by this time next week I will have news for you all.  I have also renewed my pass to Trentham Gardens to encourage me to hit 10,000 steps a day.
Stay safe and thanks for joining in with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

#dailycollage2024 July So Far

For July #dailycollage2024 pages I have gone with a yellow/gold colour theme.  Here is the story so far...

As usual, each page starts with Clarity Collage papers - this month Chamomile Infusions - and finish with one of the many sets of words stickers.

WOYWW 789/9: Last Week of Term

Welcome to WOYWW, a weekly sharing of desks, hosted for 15 years by Julia.  She has entrusted me with carrying on for which I am grateful.

As you can see by the date and time on my new smart watch, I prepared this post yesterday.  Once again I had just finished marking the last assessements of the year and didn't think they would be of much interest to you.  I downloaded a picture of my Dad as wallpaper to the phone.  This time last year he had gone into hospital and we were in the middle of an Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) at school.  This week has been a lot more relaxed although I have to come up with four hours of activities for KS3 students not going to Alton Towers on Friday.
It is celebration afternoon in school this afternoon, with the leavers' assembly for Y8 and form time for all.  We have a small celebration after school too, to say goodbye to a colleague who is leaving us.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW.  Thanks for joining in...

Woodland Aperture and Birds Dies: Ideas and Inspiration

I love these two-way overlay dies with the extra birds.  They can be used together or separately for lots of different looks.  Here are some ideas and inspiration using the set.  Links to the projects are given underneath each picture.

Birthday Cards for Boys and Men

I have three boys and have made them birthday cards for many years.  I know that people sometimes struggle to make male birthday cards so thought I'd share some ideas.  Links to projects below each.

WOYWW 788/8: Flying By

Welcome to the weekly desk share that is WOYWW.  Thanks to Julia for trusting me to carry on with her baby of the first 15 years (780 weeks).

My desk shows some new alphabet dies that I used to personalise a new baby card for a colleague (see Saturday's blog) as I didn't think you would be interested in my assessment marking.

I am into the swing with the July #dailycollage2024 pages as you can see.  Yesterday afternoon I had a pleasant time at school (on my day off) with the u3a recorder group playing for KS2.  They seemed to have a good time and asked some great questions.
This evening I will be stopping on at school between home time and awards' evening as it is an early start and finish so everyone can make it home in time for the footie.  I will be round to visit as soon as possible.  Stay safe and thanks for joining in with WOYWW.

Simply Just For You

I went with silver embossing on black card for this simple design.

Add the large sentiment from Jazz’s Just for You Elements stamp set to a 6” x 6” black card blank in Versamark ink, heat emboss with silver embossing powder.
Mask up the sentiment and add three of the small stem flowers in the same way removing the mask before heating the embossing powder.
Add a Pinky Gray greetings sticker to the inside of the card.
To finish, colour the flowers using Sakura Moonlight pens.

Calligraphy Girls: Ideas

The Calligraphy Girls stamps from Clarity Crafts are just as much fun to play with as the Hippie Chicks.  Here are a couple of ideas combined with the BOW-WOB papers.  Links to the projects are below each picture.

Floral Tag

The current prompt over on Tag Tuesday is Flowers.  There are certainly plenty of stamps from Clarity Crafts to choose from to fulfil this prompt.  I went with Tina's Floral Poppy Spray.

I added book text to a #8 manilla tag to create a background. This was dried and trimmed.
Next, I stamped Tina’s Floral Poppy spray onto the tag in Nocturne Versafine Clair ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
Laying the coordinating stencil over the top of the stamping, I added colour to the flowers and leaves with Distress Oxides (Candied Apple, Peeled Paint and Blueprint Sketch).
I then added a black pearl to the centre of each of the larger poppies.
I blended weathered Wood Distress ink around the image and the edges of the tag to create a vignette.
To finish, I added one of Barbara’s Feel Good Factor Stickers.
