WOYWW 630: Two to Go

Yesterday was a busy day of schoolwork and data, but the school year is nearly over so I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Not much changes on my desk from Wednesday to Wednesday. I am still completing a daily drawing - half the year done now. I am determined to finish off the year too.

I made a mistake with day 27 as I misread my handwriting - the prompt was actually prize not price lol.  No Eva on the other side of the desk today as I was so swamped with work yesterday that I had to focus on that.  She will be able to come over on both my days off next week though so I am looking forward to that - that's if she's still speaking to me after yesterday's excellent football amtch!  Don't forget to check out other desks at Stamping Ground as there are plenty of others who join in with WOYWW.

It will be tomorrow before I do most of my visiting as there is another twilight session at school this evening.  Thanks for all the good wishes for our anniversary.  We did manage to enjoy a takeaway together after I had finished my parents' evening appointments.

Rainbow Lino Backdrop Poppy Birthday Card

I can never resist bright colours on a card and regularly use my favourite combination of Distress Oxides. These new stamps from Clarity work perfectly with them.

Clean and Simple Anniversary Card

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary.  I always make my husband a card but this time of year is so busy it needed to be a quick, clean and simple one.  This is what I came up with this year.

WOYWW 629: Three More Wednesdays!

At the end of this week we will be half way through the term.  Usually I would be blogging from Germany next week, but things aren't what they used to be - maybe next year!  Welcome to my weekly contribution to WOYWW thanks to Julia at Stamping ground where you can find out more and join in yourself.

The usual sense of déja vu on my desk.

However my art shelf has some beautiful new additions - the Tilly Tea Dance picture that was on my desk last week and a beautiful tribute to Shaz Silverwolf from Debbie Rock.  Thanks so much for your kindness and generosity Debbie - the photo doesn't do your artwork justice.

The latest daily drawings.  No Eva this week as it is her heavy week at work so she didn't make it over yeaterday.  It will be tomorrow before I visit - parent telephone consultations in school until 6.30pm this evening - so much for seeing much of hubby on our wedding anniversary.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW.

Jackanory What's the Story: A Favourite Tag

I love making tags.  They are a great way to try out techniques or create a quick piece of artwork.  I also like using inky paper towels or brayer mop up sheets for a quick background.  This tag combines both in response to a set of prompts plus one of my favourite Clarity stamp sets. Here's the story of how it was made: #ClarityOpenDayFestival.

The first prompt was to make a tag; I didn't have to as I had a large stash of #8 manilla tags and at the time Clarity didn't make any tag dies.  Now I could have used any of the largest nesting tag dies in the Clarity range.  The second was to use scrap paper; I covered the tag with a piece of copy paper that I had used to clean my brayer off when creating a gelli print using Golden Hi Flow acrylic paints  The paper was sealed with matte gel medium, dried thoroughly and trimmed.
A third prompt was to use a stamp, a fourth to use blue and a fifth to add a favourite saying.  I combined all three in one step by stamping the Carpe Diem stamp from Claritystamp directly onto the tag using Majestic Blue Versafine ink and heat embossing in detail clear EP.  I then used a blue Sakura PN micron pen to colour in the lettering.
I also stamped and heat embossed - this time in Onyx Black Versafine - one of the large stamps from the Hats 2 set by Claritystamp onto a separate piece of card.  This was coloured using my small selection of Kuretake Clean Colour pens, fussy cut and added to the tag.
The final prompt was to add a border, so I blended the Van Gogh Phthalo Blue Oil Pastel (Royal Talens) along the edges.  I had to seal the tag otherwise the oil pastel would have eventually rubbed off.

Jackanory What's the story: My First Art Journal Page

As part of #ClarityOpenDayFestival we are sharing stories of pieces of art work that are special to us.  This is the story of my first ever art journal page.  I had had an empty Art Journal for nearly a year and the pages had scared me to death.  By chance, I happened to come across the Mission Inspiration group on Facebook and liked the idea of having to follow a set of instructions to create an art journal page.  I therefore accepted August 2016's mission and I was really happy with my first attempt, using Clarity stamps of course!

Jackanory What's the Story: My First Clarity Sample

I was highly honoured to be asked to join the Clarity design team while visiting the NEC back in November 2018.  The story behind this artwork is that it is the first ever sample that I made for Clarity, with products for the inaugural craftalong on the Craft Channel on 17th February 2019.  I have now made over 500 samples and have loved every minute, but I still look back fondly on my first. #ClarityOpen DayFestival.

Jackanory What's the Story: My Blog and My First Canvas

I turned 50 back in 2015 and first started my blog one week before the event.  Today happens to coincide with my 1800th blog post.  Back then, although I was heavily into paper crafting, mixed media was not something I had ever really tried.  This is the story of my first ever canvas for the #ClarityOpenDayFestival this weekend.

I had had some small 5" x 7" canvas boards sitting on a shelf daring me to use them for over a month at the time - this was before Clarity canvas boards - this would work great on a Clarity A5 canvas board.  Then I saw the Clarity challenge for August 2015.  My choice was a no brainer - horizontal line - Stencil, Stamp, Grunge Paste!

Drawing Every Day - Nearly Halfway Through the Year

I cannot believe that I have actually kept up so far with drawing every day in 2021.  I am now nearly halfway through the year with this project.  I am so much quicker and more confident than I was at the start.  Here is the story of June so far.

I should really have drawn four of these images referring to the four candles/fork handles Two Ronnies sketch from 1976.

WOYWW 628: Only Four More Wednesdays

The Wednesdays seem to be flying by - not a bad thing as the summer holidays approach and there are only four more after today.  So welcome to the weekly desk share and my contribution to the weekly WOYWW blog hop via Stamping Ground, Thanks to our host Julia!

WOYWW 627: Five More Wednesdays

Good morning and welcome to another Wednesday sharing of the desk with the gang at WOYWW, led by Julia at Stamping Ground - please visit to find out more.  Quick today as school is back in session, but only five more Wednesdays until the school holidays.

Same old, same old as far as the desk is concerned.  Still drawing daily!  I did very little but veg out and watch TV over half term I must admit.  No Eva today either as she was busy with school work yesterday.

Meeting after work tonight so it will probably be tomorrow before I visit.  Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.
