For my fourth and final journal page in response to the 'Words' prompt on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More, I decided to use 'discover' as my inspiration. For this page I decided to play with colour and see where the page led me. I am so pleased with the final result and hope you like it too!
As I was going to be working with water colour media, I cut a piece of Crafter's Companion watercolour card to 18.5cm x 19.5cm. The card was spritzed with water and Brusho pigments in Turquoise, Lime Green, Emerald Green and Prussian Blue were shaken on (through a small hole in the lid of each pot). Further water and colour were added until I liked the result and then the page was dried with a heat gun. I saw the impression of a landscape and decided to add further highlights with Sparkle Pens (Spectrum Noir/Crafter's Companion). I have all the sets (Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter, Vintage and the Festive collection), so simply picked out all the shades of blue and green which seemed to go with the background, adding the colours with a water brush having created a palette on my glass mat. Finally, I added some of the darkest green (Spruce) across the centre as a base for my word. I recently discovered packs of wooden sentiments in sets of three in the Bare Basics collection by Papermania. At £1 per pack I felt they would make great embellishments for art journal or mixed media pieces. 'Discover' comes in a pack with Life and Adventure. I decided to leave the word bare as a contrast to the background and added it using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue. A final touch was the addition of a phrase from the Small Talk Sticker set by Tim Holtz idea-ology. I feel that the process that I used to create the page fits the message that I wanted to convey perfectly!
