An Autumn Birthday Wreath on a Brusho Background

For this card, I decided to use Brushos in the background and stamp and heat emboss one of Barbara Gray's entwined floral wreaths in white embossing powder.  I used the autumn wreath set this time.

WOYWW 538: Off Gallivanting

There has been and will be lots of gallivanting this week.  Yesterday I was up in Stockport at the monthly JJAMMMA (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art) meet up and on Friday, Eva and I will be heading off 'oop North' for the Clarity Open Day at Leyburn, N. Yorkshire on Saturday.  I had to leave the meet up early, as it so happened that #1 son and his girlfriend were arriving back at Manchester airport yesterday afternoon and I was able to combine catching up with friends with the airport run.
My desk this week shows the new technique that I was shown by a first time meeter-upper, Tom, at the JJAMMMA get together.  It is done with a gel plate.  Dye based ink is spread over the plate with a brayer and then Brushos mixed with water are spattered on top.  A print is then taken.  It's a brilliant technique and you can never predict exactly what you will get.  This was my attempt and I will certainly be playing some more.  Thanks Tom!
As it was also our fortnightly get together, I grabbed a shot of the other side of the desk yesterday morning.  Eva was playing with her new Floral Alphabet stamps from Clarity.
So why am I sharing a view of my desk.  It is of course to join in over at The Stamping Ground with Julia and the rest of the WOYWW crew.  Please feel free to visit desks or even join in yourself.
No progress on the shed this week.  It has simply been too wet to get anything done since #3 son got over the lurgy.  Maybe next week...

Geometric Thank You Card

Lou Withers will be with us this evening on Hochanda at 6pm and 8pm bringing a new one day special from Claritystamp.  There will also be plenty more chances to see great demos tomorrow at 9am, 1pm and 5pm.  I had great fun playing with some of the stencils!

Using a Stencil with Brushos and Heat Embossing to make a Scene

This is the first of my samples that I am sharing for the new Clarity stencils.  They will be launched live from the NEC at 12pm today (GMT) on Hochanda.  I had great fun playing with them and trying out some new techniques.  This is the first time that I have used Brushos with a stencil, but it certainly won't be the last.

Doodle Flowers Cascading Card

I was asked to make a cascading card by a friend.  I haven't made one for ages but I am really pleased with the dramatic effect of the finished piece using Tina Cox's Doodle Flowers (designed for Claritystamp).

Ta and ta-ta to a great bunch of TAs

A large number of our Teaching Assistants (TAs) are moving on to pastures new; one to take up a place on a teacher training course.  I made a series of cards for everyone at work to sign and as you can tell, continued with my penchant for terrible puns.

Discover: An Art journal Page

For my fourth and final journal page in response to the 'Words' prompt on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More, I decided to use 'discover' as my inspiration.   For this page I decided to play with colour and see where the page led me.  I am so pleased with the final result and hope you like it too!

Non Traditional Quick Christmas Cards

I had to batch make some Christmas cards as I was running low on my stocks.  I wanted to create some cards in non traditional colours and also that were each unique.  I therefore used Brushos and Pixie Powders (Cosmic Shimmer) to create some backgrounds.

ATCs: F is for...

My ATC swap partner for the Junk Journal Junkies and Mindful Art for this month was the extremely talented Lou Withers, so I had to make sure that my ATCs were as good as possible.  This month's prompt was 'F', so I decided on 'fairies', 'farm' and 'flying free' as my themes.  All the stamps that I used are by Claritystamp and most of the stamping was done using Versamark ink and heat embossed in detail black embossing powder.

Brushos and Pixie Powders: Experiment

For a change, rather than completing a full project, I decided to work with Brusho powders and Pixie Powders to create a large background, then made smaller background pieces trying different techniques over different sections. To begin with, I lightly spritzed a piece of A3 white card with water and tapped Pixie Powders over it in Midnight Blue, Peacock Green, Aqua Lagoon and Golden Mint.  Having spritzed the sheet again, I added Brusho powders in Turquoise, Ultramarine, Lemon and Emerald Green tapping the colour through a small hole in each lid onto the card.  A final spritz and then the colours were encouraged to run a little.  I think I went a little overboard with the water as it took me quite a while to dry the sheet completely with my heat gun.

Art Journal: Nature

I had fun creating this page in response to the prompt for week 36 of Art Journal Prompts: Nature.  It is a variation on a theme, as I used the same colour palette as I did for a previous art journal page (see HERE / photo at end of post).  For once I found and added the quote after the rest of the page had been completed; normally, I find a quote that I like and create the page to fit.

Happy 6th Birthday

I created this card for my Great Niece's 6th birthday.  She is a creative person like her Grandmother and Great Aunt and I always look forward to sending her some additions to her crafty stash at this time of year!

An 'In Joke' themed card

This is the final card made for colleagues at work to sign.  It is for a young man who has only been with us a year, but was invaluable on the recent visit to Berlin.  He knows exactly what the 'in joke' message is all about; suffice it to say, we couldn't have done without him on the visit.
