This card was inspired by a topper that my friend made using the same stencil. I decided to make a square card using the same method but with different stamps.
I started by cutting a piece of Sheena's stamping card to 13.8cm x 13.8cm. I then attached the Framework Squares stencil by Claritystamp over it at an angle.
Using Clarity stencil brushes I added Ocean Reef Artistry ink, Twisted Citron Distress ink, Abandoned Coral Distress ink and Lush Lilac Artistry ink through the stencil then removed it.
Working free hand, I added a 'wobbly' outline around each square with a Sakura black micron pen. The birthday wishes stamp from the Woodware Salutations set (FRCL154) was stamped using Jet Black Archival ink. Initially, I was planning to replace the stencil, then stamp flowers and leaves into each section. However, I ended up using four post it notes to mask off a section at a time, as they were thinner than the stencil and made it easier to get a crisp edge when stamping. I used the Butterfly Blooms Tapestry Stamp set and the Dragonfly Garden stamps by Card-io, together with a wide range of Archival inks in purple, oranges, reds, pinks and greens.
Second section.
Moving up the topper.
I started ensuring that I kept the edges of the areas uneven as it produced a more pleasing effect.
I also tried to balance out the colours.
I left the tiny areas blank.
Once complete, I matted the topper onto a piece of black card (14.3cm x 14.3cm) then added the whole piece to a 14.8cm x 14.8cm white pre-made card blank. Thanks Eva for the inspiration.
