Education is Power: A Journal Tag

The prompt for July's mini mission over on Mission Inspiration is 'Power'.  I am a teacher, so the quote 'Education is power' was the perfect fit.  As always, the mini mission was completed on a tag.  As this owl is such a whimsical character, I am also entering it into the current Whimsical challenge over on JJAMMMA (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art).
I started with one of my favourite background methods; adhering the top layer of a paper towel to a #8 manilla tag.  The one that I chose was one that had been used to clean Archival ink off my stamps (IndigoBlu Collector's Edition) and Amsterdam acrylic paints off my fingers when working on a journal page (see HERE).  The paper towel was sealed with distress collage medium, dried and trimmed.
Next I stamped the prompt word 'Power' using the Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet in Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossed it in clear EP.
Using the Tim Holtz stamp platform, I stamped one of the Wise owls (Claritystamp) onto a piece of Sheena's stamping card using Jet Black Archival ink.  I added the mortar board and separate tassel.
Using the direct cut option on my Brother Scan N Cut, the owl was cut out beautifully.  A knife was needed to cut out the section between his legs.
I used a couple of Kuretake Clean Colour pens and a couple of Royal Talens Ecoline pens to colour the owl, then added him to the tag.
The rest of the quote was printed out in a large font using my Dymo Letratag, trimmed and added.
All that remained was to use a Sakura MB black pen to add a border round the text panels.
