Experimenting with the New Oxides!

Like many of you, I was excited when the fourth set of Distress Oxides were announced.  I immediately ordered them (and later the matching re inkers) and they arrived yesterday morning.  I immediately set about creating backgrounds on tags using different combinations of the new colours.

I used the same technique each time: adding the colours directly onto my blending mat, spritzing with water, dragging or tapping the tags over the colours and drying between layers.  To finish each time,  I blended some of the lightest colour over areas of the tag using a foam blending tool, spritzed the tags themselves with water, then dried them with my heat gun.  I started with a combination of Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky.
Next a layer of Stormy Sky on its own.
Switched back to Tumbled Glass.
More Stormy Sky.
Added a layer of Dusty Concord.
Finished by blending Tumbled Glass over pale areas.
Then I moved onto Old Paper and Tea Dye together.
Added Old Paper on its own.
A layer of Tea Dye on its own.
Brought in a layer of Ground Espresso.
Finished by blending Tea Dye over parts of each tag, spritzing with water, then drying.
For the third colour combination I started with Mustard Seed and Crushed Olive.
Added a layer of Crushed Olive on its own.
Brought in a layer of Mowed Lawn.
Another layer of Crushed Olive.
I finished by blending over with Mustard Seed, spritzing and drying as before.
I actually think that the final colour combination is my favourite.  First a layer of Ripe Persimmon and Spun Sugar.
An additional layer of Spun Sugar on its own.
A layer of Barn Door.
Finally, Spun Sugar blended over the uncovered areas.
I will be using all these tags in future projects, but I'd like to know which colour combination you prefer or if you'd suggest any other combinations using only the new set of Oxides.
