Rise & Shine: Journal Tag

Here's another post that I prepared in advance to share while I'm in Berlin on a school trip.  I figured that lack of sleep might well be starting to kick in by this point of the week and decided to motivate myself to keep going!
I started by adding the top sheet of a paper towel mop up sheet onto a #8 manilla tag.  This one had been used to clean Distress Oxides off two different stencils;  Carved Pumpkin off a Peacock Feathers stencil (Claritystamp) and Picked Raspberry off a floral stencil (That Special Touch).  As usual, the paper towel was sealed with matte medium, dried and trimmed.
The Cockerel from the Cockerel and Hen stamp set (Claritystamp) was stamped in Onyx Black Versafine ink onto a piece of Sheena's stamping card, then heat embossed in detail clear EP.  I only used three of the Kuretake Clean Colour pens to colour it in; Geranium Red, Lemon Yellow and Blue.
The image was fussy cut, sealed with Distress Glaze and added to the tag.
Before using the Sanguine Faber-Castell Big Brush marker, together with the Pergamano blending pen and nib to add shading round the focal image, I went over the bottom half of the tag again with matte medium to create a non-porous surface.  It was dried thoroughly before using the marker as I didn't want to ruin the nib.  As you can see, I missed a couple of areas and the Sanguine colour sank into the background rather than allowing itself to be blended out smoothly.
To finish, I added a motivational phrase from the Small Talk sticker book (Tim Holtz idea-ology) as well as printing one using my Dymo Letratag.  A Sakura Everyday Micron pen in sepia was used to go round the sentiments.
