Paper Piecing as an Alternative to Colouring

Yesterday I shared a tag using paper piecing in place of colouring a stamped image (see HERE).  It was the test piece for this larger scene which became an art journal page.  The designer papers from Claritystamp provide a wealth of choice for this technique.

3 Colours, 8 Steps plus 5 Prompt Words = An Art Journal Page

For once I have actually completed my Mission Inspiration page before the end of the month.  This is my response to the September prompts.  The three suggested colours were Mustard, Peacock and Slate and the choice of prompt words were Feather, Leaf, Time, Home and Quilt.  As you can see,  I based my page around 'Feather'.

Canvas Journal Page: Sun, Sea and Sand

The current challenge over on Country View Challenges is 'Sun, Sea and Sand'.  For a change, I decided to work on a canvas board.  It also fits the current prompt on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More 'On Your Travels'.

WOYWW 477: Getting into Practice

I thought I'd better start getting into a routine for my new work pattern starting in September as I will be working on Wednesdays.  So today's post was written yesterday evening as well as the photos being taken (as usual) during my Tuesday craft session with Eva.  As Wednesdays won't have anything of interest on my desk shortly, I won't be boring you with pictures of my laptop and books for marking lol.  Visit head desker Julia over on The Stamping Ground to find out more about this weekly event.
I was working on an MDF kit: a box shaped like a book and six ATC blanks to store inside.  I won it in a competition and I'm not sure who made it, but I am enjoying decorating the whole thing.  Pop back tomorrow if you want to see the finished piece; not that I have done so yet lol.  The box is red as I had the idea of painting the ATCs in the remaining colours of the rainbow and working on that as a theme.
Eva was using her Kuretake Clean Colour pens to colour in some stamping.  When she returns from Germany, I will be sitting down with her to finally help her create her own blog: 'The Other Side of the Desk'.  We have had the name for a while, thanks to suggestions from fellow deskers; now we just need to create it and get Eva started.  By September she should be blogging once a week at least!

Education is Power: A Journal Tag

The prompt for July's mini mission over on Mission Inspiration is 'Power'.  I am a teacher, so the quote 'Education is power' was the perfect fit.  As always, the mini mission was completed on a tag.  As this owl is such a whimsical character, I am also entering it into the current Whimsical challenge over on JJAMMMA (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art).

A Maternity Leave Card

This card was made for a colleague who has gone on maternity leave.  It was made on an 8" x 8" pre made card blank to allow space for everyone to sign it.

There's No Place Like Home

This tag was made ready for sharing on the last day of the school visit to Berlin.  It seems apt as we are flying home today and I'm sure there will be lots of stories to share about the week's experiences.  Today also marks a milestone for my blog which is nearly three years old.  I have posted once a day since returning from Berlin last year, so today marks an uninterrupted year of sharing and crafting!

Rise & Shine: Journal Tag

Here's another post that I prepared in advance to share while I'm in Berlin on a school trip.  I figured that lack of sleep might well be starting to kick in by this point of the week and decided to motivate myself to keep going!

Paper Towel Backgrounds on ATCs

These ATCs were made for the June swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art.  The prompt was the letter R.  As always, I only used Claritystamp stamps and stencils for my ATC projects.
For a change, I decided to use paper towel mop up sheets for the background of each ATC.  Usually, I stamp and colour directly onto the precut ATC cards (2.5" x 3.5") which I have in my stash, but I am glad that I added a background first as I love the way that these turned out.

A Bird does not sing: Journal Page

This page was made in response to the June Challenge on Mixed Media Art Journey.  There are 6 prompts each month.  These month's prompts in no particular order are: Make a page, add red, add texture, use scrap paper, add doodles and favourite quote.

Colour Slider Magic Card: Black and White becomes Colour

I haven't made one of these cards for ages and I am grateful to Wendy Cranford and her YouTube video for a reminder of how to make one.  I adapted her measurements to fit the stamp that I wanted to use and ended up with an A5 card.

Crazy Cat Tag

This tag was created for the April challenge over on Mixed Media Art Journey.  Each month there are six random prompts which can be followed in any order to create a mixed media piece.  The first prompt this month was to create a tag, so I worked on one of the #8 manilla tags that I have in my stash.

Oxides and Watercolour Pens: A Tag

Once again, I have managed to complete the mini mission for March over on Mission Inspiration, before the main mission!  As always, the mini mission has been completed on a tag, and this month all the stamps and stencils are from Claritystamp.  The prompt was 'Lost'; this seemed appropriate, as I had just returned home from seeing Stoke City lose at home to Everton!
