3 Colours, 8 Steps plus 5 Prompt Words = An Art Journal Page
For once I have actually completed my Mission Inspiration page before the end of the month. This is my response to the September prompts. The three suggested colours were Mustard, Peacock and Slate and the choice of prompt words were Feather, Leaf, Time, Home and Quilt. As you can see, I based my page around 'Feather'.
Step 1: Cover your page with paper fragments. I used the Spellbinders Feathers dies to die cut pages from a book of Moliere plays and stuck them over a piece of mixed media card to fit my journal (nearly A4 in size).

Step 1 |
Step 2: Cover with thin washes of two colours. For Slate I substituted a Micaceous Iron Oxide Golden fluid acrylic paint. I followed that up with a wash of Mustard Seed Distress paint.
|
Step 2 |
Step 3: Add a focal image or two. I chose the Guardian Angel image from IndigoBlu which I had stamped and coloured previously (see HERE). This was fussy cut and added to the page. As the angels' dress is coloured in a peacock colour I felt that it tied in with the theme.

Step 3 |
Step 4: Glue washi tape, tissue or paper strips. I chose three Tim Holtz design tapes from the Rose collection and added them in several places over the page.
|
Step 4 |
Step 5: Add splats, drips or dribbles. I used Peacock Feathers Distress paint, well watered down, to add splatters with a fan brush.
|
Step 5 |
Step 6: Add hand written journaling or phrase. I used a fine, black Posca pen to add my quote 'Feathers appear when angels are near'.
|
Step 6 |
Step 7: Doodle or scribble. Using the same Posca pen, I added doodling to three of the feathers from step 1.
|
Step 7 |
Step 8: Create a border of your choice. I blended Paradise Teal Archival ink through the mini feather stencil by Claritystamp to add a border in three places round the page. I chose not to have a border around the whole page.
|
Step 8 |
This page came together very quickly once I had decided on my focal point and quote.
