Three Colours, Eight Steps plus Five Prompt Words equals One Art Journal Page
As usual, I am a month behind with my Mission Inspiration page. I am not sure why I put them off for so long, as once I get started with a page, I rarely dislike where I end up. In fact, I got so engrossed in creating my page this time, that I forgot to take photos after steps 5 and 6. This is my mission for August 2018.
The three suggested colours were Greenery, Desert Flower and Honey Ginger; I substituted Dirty Martini and Rose Quartz Dylusions paints and Tea Dye Distress paint.
Step 1: Add suggested colours to background. I didn't want to use all three at this point so just added Tea Dye and Rose Quartz to a piece of mixed media card cut to fit my art journal.

Step 1 |
Step 2: Glue hand stamped or patterned tissue. The Numero tissue from 7gypsies is a very similar colour to Tea Dye, so I tore a strip and added it over the corresponding paint.

Step 2 |
Step 3: Add focal image or shapes. One of the prompt words was 'Queen'. I dissected an old book which I had bought at the library for the purpose of art journaling, trimmed round an image of Queen Elizabeth I being carried in procession and added it to the page. The colours fit this month's suggestions perfectly.

Step 3 |
Step 4: Use one or more of the given words. The five to choose from were Phenomenal, Strength, Queen, King and Fearless. I chose the phrase ' Be phenomenal or be forgotten' and stamped the prompt (using the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp) in Versamark ink. It was heat embossed in detail gold EP. The rest of the quote was printed out onto clear plastic using my Dymo Letratag, trimmed, then added above and below the key word.

Step 4 |
Step 5: Add another layer of colour. I used Tea Dye through the Tim Holtz mini stencil (Hive THMS105) to continue the ground from the focal image. I also introduced more green (Dirty Martini) through the Crossed mini stencil (THMS090) in several places.
Step 6: Make marks/doodles in black/white/gold. I stuck to black and gold, using Posca pens to add a border round the main image and above and below the tissue.
Step 7: Add thread and/or staples for texture. I die cut some small pieces of bunting from green vellum and stapled them in place along the top of the page.

Steps 5, 6 and 7 |
Before going onto step 8: Finish with journaling and/or splatters, I decided to go round 'phenomenal' with a black Posca pen to make it stand out more.
I chose not to add splatters, but journaled the bunting pieces adding 'Queen' and 'ER' to finish.

Step 8 |
Now I just have to complete September's Mission before the end of the month lol. Do you think I'll manage it?
