Once There Were Dragons: An 18th Birthday Card

I was asked by my son to make an 18th birthday card for one of his friends.  As the friend is into the game 'Magic: The Gathering', I decided to make the focal image a dragon.
I started by stamping the main image from the Once There Were Dragons stamp set (Sheena Douglass) onto a piece of Sheena's stamping card (20cm x 13.8cm), using Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossing with detail clear powder.
I gave the dragon a coat of Pebeo masking fluid.  Once dry, I placed the largest of the Claritystamp Moon Masks onto the topper and blended Faded Jeans and Broken China Distress Oxides over the whole thing.  A spritz of water, then the mask was removed and the ink dried with a heat gun.
Once the masking fluid was removed, I used the dark green Kuretake Clean Colour pen and a water brush to colour the dragon.
Next, I added interest to the moon using a blend of lemon yellow and light grey Kuretake pens and my water brush.
To finish the card, the topper was matted onto black card (20.5cm x 14.3cm) and added to an A5 card blank made from white A4 linen card.  One of the sentiments from the Flutterby stamp set designed by Sara Davies was stamped and heat embossed in the same way as the dragon, matted onto black card leaving a narrow border and added using foam pads for dimension.  The wings of the dragon were given a coat of clear sparkle pen (Spectrum Noir) to finish things off.
