I made this Mother's Day card from the last print that I pulled during my recent half hour gelli plate experiment (see HERE for details). Happy Mother's Day to my darling mother; I appreciate and love you!
I started by laying the stencil that I used back into place on the print and going around all the details with a dark pink Staedtler Triplus fine liner pen.
Once the stencil was removed, I added shading freehand with the brown fine liner. The print was trimmed evenly, close to the images. It was matted and layered, first onto dark pink card and then onto brown, leaving a narrow border each time.
The topper was added to the front of a 20cm x 20cm pre made cream card blank. One of the print offcuts was trimmed to 2cm x 18cm and matted and layered onto the same coloured card as the main topper, but with narrower borders. Peel offs reading 'Happy Mothers Day' were coloured using a deep pink Sharpie pen as well as some small peel off hearts. Some of these hearts were added to the main topper to 'dot the is' and the rest finished the sentiment border piece, which was added to the front of the card facing inwards.
