Ancient Soul; Futuristic Mind: An Art Journal Page

This page was completed for the February 2018 prompts on Mission Inspiration.  Even though I didn't complete the page until 1st March, at least I am sharing it before the new prompts are released tomorrow lol.  I loved the colour scheme for this page (brown/red/orange)!
Step 1: Cover your page with tissue, text or newsprint.  I decided to use the Newsprint stamp designed by Sam Poole and stamped all over the page (mixed media card measuring 28.5cm x 19.5cm) in Coffee Archival ink.  I held the stamp in my hand and used first, second and even third generation stamping until I was happy with the coverage.
Step 2: Add a thin coat of spritzed ink/colour.  For this step I used Distress sprays in Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple.
Step 3: Add tinted texture paste through a stencil.  I mixed deep brown Gouache with Pebeo high density modelling paste and spread it through two Tim Holtz mini stencils (THMS054 and THMS089).
Step 4: Colour string or twine and add to page.  Step 5: Add one or more steampunk focal images.  I decided to combine these steps.  First, I die cut Sheena's stamping card using the Time Machine die from her Time Traveller Collection.  Next, I stamped it with the coordinating stamp in Coffee archival ink.
Next, I cut away the cables.
Finally, I coloured the image using my Yasutomo mica paints and added red and white baker's twine to replace the cables.
Once I had added the image to the page, I used deep brown Gouache (watered down) to create a shadow around it.
Step 6: Add headline, quote or phrase.  For this step I chose the prompt 'Futuristic' from the list of five (the others were Industrial, Mechanical, Whimsical and Revolutionary).  I stamped the word in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in Ancient Copper detail embossing powder by Cosmic Shimmer.  The word is made up with letters from the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp; one of my favourite alphabet sets.  The rest of the prompt was printed onto clear plastic using my Dymo Letratag and added above and below.  Futuristic was outlined with a black fine liner to make it stand out.
Step 7: Add metallic elements (paint, ink, foil etc).  For this step, I stamped one of the In the Pipeline stamps (Sheena Douglass Time Traveller Collection) in flitter glue and also replaced one of the stencils and added some flitter glue over the top in places.  Once tacky, Gilding Flakes were added and burnished.
Step 8:  Finish with a frame or border of your choice.  Before going round the whole page with Coffee Archival ink, I added splatters in Cosmic Shimmer Ancient Copper spray and a black Sparkle Pen (Spectrum Noir).
