Collage, Oxides and Texture Paste: An Art Journal Page

This is my second journal page for the Friendship prompt (March 2018) over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More.  I am two weeks behind, although I hope to complete a third page later ready for sharing tomorrow.
I had a large number of magazine clippings in my stash, showing faces of people of various ages.  Having found a quote that I liked, I felt that collage using these images would be the way to go with this page.  To start with, I simply played around with different layouts on my mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm), taking reference photos until I had a layout that I was happy with.
Even though most of the background was going to be covered up, I didn't want to leave it bare.  I blended Salty Ocean Distress Oxide over most of the page, then spritzed it with water and dried it thoroughly.  In keeping with the quote, I blended Iridescent Silver Pebeo Studio Dyna Acrylic paint through the Snowflake mini stencil by Tim Holtz (THMS050) in places.
Using matte gel medium to avoid wrinkles, I added all the magazine clippings using my reference photo.  As you can see, I added in three more heads.
Using the same stencil as before, I added more snowflakes; this time using silver Dreamweaver embossing paste instead of paint.

It only remained to add the quote: "Good friends are like snowflakes, all different and all beautiful."  The prompt word friends was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed using detail silver powder (Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet).  The rest of the quote was made up using words from the Chit Chat and Chit Chat seasonal sticker books by Tim Holtz.  I did have to cut down the word small to make the second 'all' however.
