This canvas board was made using Royal Talens Ecoline pens for stamping as well as colouring.
I started by adding three of the colours directly to the large Chrysanthemum stamp by Claritystamp and stamping it onto the smooth side of a piece of my Chinese rice paper. The stamp was given a spritz with water and a second generation image made. This was repeated until the paper was covered. I have a massive roll of this rice paper, so stamped a piece much larger than the 7" x 5" canvas board that I was planning to use.
A section of the rice paper was added to the canvas board using Distress matte collage medium and sealed. I stamped the butterfly from the same Claritystamp set onto a piece of Sheena's stamping card, then used the direct cut mode on my Brother Scan N Cut to save fussy cutting by hand. The butterfly was coloured using a selection of my Ecoline watercolour pens by Royal Talens. Before adding it to the canvas, I chose one of the Quote Chips from Tim Holtz and added some colour in the same Ecoline pens used to stamp the background. Some grunge paper flourishes from my stash were painted using Royal Talens acrylic paints and added above and below the quote. Finally, the butterfly was added, gluing under the body only. I deliberately coloured the butterfly using colours on the opposite side of the colour wheel to the background, to make it stand out.
