Having been inspired recently on Hochanda, I decided to play with the alcohol inks that I already have. I used an offcut of Yupo paper from my stash and Ranger alcohol inks in Indigo, Wild plum, Purple Twilight, Raspberry, Sail Boat Blue, Stonewashed, Cool Peri and Ice Cap Mixative as well as blending solution, a drinking straw and a felt pad blending tool.
I started with drops of Purple Twilight and Sailboat Blue. Next I added some of the Ice Cap Mixative, shaken well first. Followed by Raspberry, more Purple Twilight and some drops of blending solution. I added Indigo and Cool Peri blowing at each drop as it landed through a drinking straw. Next came more blending solution and some wild Raspberry. Stonewashed and further Indigo intensified the colours. For the next step, I used a small round felt on the Ranger blending handle and added a few drops of blending solution as well as Wild Plum and Stonewashed ink. I dabbed around the outside of the image. Finally, I added further ink and blending solution and also dabbed over the central patterns to create a patchy effect and transfer some of the colour to the outer edges. I'm not sure where I am going to go with this background yet, but I am delighted with the different effects that I achieved.
