Tag: Book Print

This tag was created for the fortnightly Tag Tuesday challenge; this time the prompt is 'book print'.  I decided to combine some of my favourite techniques with one of my favourite stamp sets (Bookworm by Darkroom Door).
I started by gluing the top layer of a paper towel mop up sheet onto a #8 manilla tag; sealing, drying and trimming all round.  This is one of my favourite techniques for creating a quick background.
I then added a piece of a dictionary page from an old Cassell's German-English dictionary down the right hand side in the same manner.
To colour the dictionary page and to add extra intensity to the left hand side of the tag I used Distress Crayons in Blueprint Sketch, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and a little Mustard Seed.
On a separate piece of Sheena's stamping card I stamped one of the stamps from the Bookworm set by Darkroom Door.  I used Royal Talens Ecoline pens directly onto the stamp then fussy cut round the image.
I tried out a couple of images from the Paper Dolls collection by Tim Holtz before deciding which one to add.
The first option
The final choice was glued in place, sealed with Distress Collage medium, then Faber-Castell Big Brush Markers were used to add shading around both the stack of books and the seated character.
The final choice
Finally, one of the quotes from the same stamp set was added using Cobalt Blue Archival ink directly onto the tag.
