Autumn: The Year's Last, Loveliest Smile: A Journal Page

This page was created for week 44 of Art Journal Prompts.  The prompt was Autumn/Fall and I decided to use my latest bargain buy from Craft Clearance (thanks Nina for the tip); the large pack of Tim Holtz Grunge board (Swirls/AlphasTH92491) which were less than £10 for 26 sheets of grunge board.
I worked on a piece of mixed media card (19.5cm x 18.5cm) and used Dylusions paints to create the background.  I started with Postbox Red added using a round sponge.
The next layer was added in the same way using Tangerine Dream.
Followed by Pure Sunshine.
And finally, Lemon Zest; all autumnal colours.
I had chosen the letters that I wanted to use from the Grunge board pack (there are 9 choices of font for each one) and gave them all a coat of Melted Chocolate Dylusions paint.
I tapped some Pebeo gilding wax over each one using a mixture of Renaissance Gold and Ancient Gold to bring out the swirl pattern of the grunge board.
Before gluing them onto the background, I added some stamped detail to it using the small maple leaf stamp from the Autumn Morning Rustling Leaves stamp set designed by Sara Davies.  As I was stamping over acrylic paint, I used a Sepia Archival ink pad.
I then glued the letters in place using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue.
The rest of the quote was printed off using my Dymo Letratag (this time using the clear plastic cartridge) and added at the bottom.  I didn't want to lose any of the background by using the white paper cartridge as I usually do.  However I did make a spelling error which annoys me no end!
