Here is my contribution to the March challenge over on Mission Inspiration. The main prompt was 'Spring has Sprung', the colours sky, lemon and peach and the prompt words, Birds, Earth, Fresh, Bloom and Life. As for all the pages this year, I worked in my leather bound journal with handmade paper.
As usual, I first went over both pages with transparent gesso and dried it thoroughly. Next I covered them both with Cloudy Blue Adirondack paint and dried them again.
To add interest, I stamped all over the background with two of the stamps from the Mixed Media Journal set by Claritystamp in Sky Blue and Forget-me-Not Archival inks. Next, I stamped two of the flowers from Tina's flowers set 1 in Chrome Yellow Archival ink onto Clarity stencil card. These were die cut using the two smallest dies from Tina's picot flowers: perfect petals set. I also used the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlet die (660214) to cut out the Earth in stencil card. These were added to the pages and sealed with matte medium to give a non porous surface. The flowers and Earth were coloured using Faber-Castell Big Brush markers, blended out with a finger. I then added further shading around the flowers and on the Earth using the same method. I painted some wooden letters in Broken China Distress paint to spell out the prompt word I had chosen. I added further shading using a blue Sparkle pen. The letters were then added to the pages using acrylic glue. The rest of my chosen quote was printed out onto clear plastic using my Dymo Letratag. To finish, the plastic was trimmed and added to the pages.
