Looking at Stamps in Another Light: Creating a Scene

I had another look at the new Altered Burst stamps designed by Leonie Pujol for Claritystamp.  By turning them to different angles I saw trees and the makings of a snail character and decided to create a whimsical scene.

Trim a piece of Clarity stencil card to 5” x 5”. Stamp the small circle burst in black Versafine ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Create a mask from a post-it note and add the stamp which has 3 ‘antennae’ below to create a snail. Remove the mask and heat emboss.

Add three ‘trees’ using the stamp with three long lines in the same manner.

Create a mask for the ‘snail’ and the three tree heads. Lay the mountains and hills inner mask towards the bottom of the card and brush Mowed Lawn Distress ink below it using a stencil brush.

Cover this with the other half of the mask, lay a moon mask in the sky and add clouds using the cloud mask and Broken China Distress ink. Work from top to bottom. Blend out the ink on the ground with a water brush. Repeat with the bottom part of the sky creating blue ‘mountains’ in the background.

Colour the trees in Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress ink and the ‘snail’ using Pumice Stone, Tea Dye and Ground Espresso Distress Oxides applied with a water brush.

Use the fourth largest square nested picot die on the front of a 7” x 7” black card blank to create a frame.

Open up the card and mask off the back along the fold. Lay the Burst frameless stencil over the frame on the front and blend Picket Fence Distress ink through the stencil.

Glue the picture behind the aperture and neaten the inside of the card by adding a 6.75” x 6.75” piece of black card to it.

To finish add three of Leonie’s word stickers.
