This page is in response to the first June prompt over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More: Repeat after me, Mandalas. I am a little behind, but I have already completed the second page for June Circles (see HERE).
I worked on a piece of mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm), blending Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen Distress Oxides over the page.
Using three of the petite mandala stencils by Claritystamp and introducing Gathered Twigs to the original colours of Distress Oxide, I added a repeat stencil pattern to the background. Next I found a very old Medallion stamp from Creative Expressions (no longer available) and stamped it in Onyx Black Versafine ink. This was then heat embossed with clear EP and sealed by rubbing Distress Glaze over the top to create a non porous surface. As the surface had been sealed, I could use a range of Faber-Castell Big Brush markers and a Pergamano blending pen and nib to colour the mandala. I used to use my fingers or a cotton bud to blend out these pens, but the fine tips of the Pergamano nibs mean that I can get into more detailed areas. I used the Word Chain Alphabet from Claritystamp to add the words 'Namaste' to the page, using the same method as for the medallion stamp. To finish, I edged the page in Black Soot Distress Oxide.
