The first of my samples for the One Day Special later today on Hochanda with Lou Withers, when she brings you all things Royal Talens. The photo doesn't really do the piece justice, as the red poppy has an enamel look finish.
I started by giving a 5" x 7" canvas board a coat of Amsterdam black gesso, then adding the Amsterdam Pearl Medium through the Poppies stencil by Claritystamp.
Once dry, the whole piece was given another coat of black gesso.
Once clean and dry, the stencil was replaced and some of the pewter Amsterdam acrylic paint (Royal Talens), was blended over the raised areas. This really brought out the texture of the pearl medium.
Some of the same paint was added all round the edges of the canvas with my fingers; a little goes an awfully long way. Next, I picked out one of the poppies using an Amsterdam acrylic ink in red and a detail brush. Once dry it created an enamel effect. To finish, one of the Tim Holtz quote chips was edged using the Scarlet Ecoline pen (also Royal Talens) and added to the canvas.
