This page is for the 'Art Journal Prompts' Facebook group weekly challenge. I came up with the concept for the page as I was falling asleep, so it didn't take me long to make. I wasn't too sure how Brushos would work on a gessoed surface rather than on watercolour card, but as you will see, the background worked out fine.
Having given my kraft card page a coat of white gesso and dried it with a heat gun, I sprinkled a selection of Brusho colours (Turquoise, Ost. Blue, Scarlet, Lemon, Yellow, Orange, Emerald, Leaf Green, Violet and a touch of Light Brown) over the page and activated them with spritzes of water. I kept adding a little more colour until I was happy with the result, then dried the whole page thoroughly with a heat gun.
I had die cut each of the Wildflowers (from the original Sizzix set designed by Tim Holtz) out of black card, and tried them in several layouts until I was happy. I also tore a piece of black card to act as the 'ground'. Once I was sure of the layout, I glued each element in place using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue.
For the prompt, I used the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp and the 'Spring' stamp which was the NDC stamp for January 2016. Everything was stamped using Versamark ink and heat embossed using Detail black embossing powder by Stampendous. Finally I added colour to the word 'Spring' to match the back ground using my Aqua Tints and a water brush.
