I had such fun making this page. I started it for week 14 of Journal52 (Horizon), but as I only used Claritystamp stamps, I also decided to enter the finished page into the April 2017 Clarity Worldwide challenge 'All About The Words'.
I started by covering my page with white gesso and drying it as I wanted the distress paints to move around smoothly. For the sky I used Adirondack Cloudy Blue as well as Tumbled Glass and Broken China distress paint. I dabbed each colour on, then blended them out with my fingers while they were still wet. Finally, I dabbed a wet baby wipe all over the sky to create the clouds.
The next step was to add the foreground. For this I used four different distress paints; Bundled Sage and Pine Needles at the bottom and Crushed Olive and Forest Moss closer to the horizon. This time I didn't use a baby wipe as I wanted a smoother blend of paint.
I used a number of stamps and Jet Black Archival ink to add the trees, fences and the boy flying through the air. The boy is from the Fly Away stamp set by Claritystamp, as were all the other stamps that I used. I have had the Birdhouse Garden and the Wee Trees stamps for a while; they provided the larger tree and the fence that is in the foreground. The tree cluster and smaller version of the tree came from the teeny weeny stamp set that come with the Stag Outline and Mask, and the smaller version of the fence is one of the teeny weeny stamp set which comes with the Bird Outline and Mask. I used both first and second generation stamping, as well as the different size stamps, to create the illusion of depth and distance.
The final step was to add the prompt word 'Horizon' using Versamark ink, the Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet and detail black embossing powder. The rest of the quote was created using my Dymo Letratag machine.
