Journal52 Week 16: Rise
For the Journal52 group with Effy Wild, where you can find additional prompts. The success of my previous attempt at free painting led me to attempt another page using the same format; acrylics (finger painted), Neocolor II for detail and a stamped/printed quote. Not sure if I like this one quite as much as the first page (see HERE), but I can but keep trying. The quote by Mario Fernandez is the inspiration for the painting.

Acrylics |
The page was given a coat of white gesso and dried, before adding the acrylic paint base layer. For this I used Reeves acrylic paints in Paynes Grey, Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Orange and Flesh. I mixed and added the paints with my fingers, occasionally dabbing/blending with a damp wet wipe or a piece of paper towel. Once again, I used a photo which I had found online as a basis for the image (see HERE for the original).

Acrylics + Neocolor II |
The next step was to add definition and additional intensity of colour in areas using my Neocolor II Water-soluble Crayons and a water brush. I particularly wanted to define the clouds a little more, as well as add a 'sun' behind the smaller black cloud. I also wanted to make the sunshine part of the sky more vibrant and intense. I am fairly pleased with the result.
Finally, I stamped the prompt word as always using the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp (Versamark ink and Cosmic Shimmer detail silver embossing powder) and added the rest of the quote using my Dymo Letratag. The quote/letters were outlined using my black Sakura micron pen, although this was more challenging over the top of the Neocolor II areas than directly over acrylic paint.
