I am really grateful to Dr Sonia SV for sharing her template for this card which can be found on her blog HERE. I have made a few of these cards over the years for special occasions. This one is for a friend who was received into the RC Church at the Easter Vigil yesterday and also celebrated Confirmation and First Holy Communion. Congratulations!
I won't repeat the directions for the card base as you can visit the original blog post if you wish more details. I used narrow, straight silver peel offs across the inside top of the card, to create the effect of pages. I was careful to follow a curve along the left hand side so that the illusion is kept when the card is opened.
For the front of the card, I used the Scrap Magic Cross Template by Nellie Snellen in layers of silver and white, embossing using my light box. I thought it was so suitable for the occasion, although the holographic silver comes across less 'blingy' in real life. It is a fiddly job to cut out and make up, but I have always loved the finished effect and the occasion and recipient warrant the effort.
For the spine of the book I cut a 2.5cm x 21cm strip of silver and a 2cm x 21cm strip of the white hammered card and shaped and trimmed them top and bottom using the shaped bottom of the main card as a template. I could only find peel offs relating to First Holy Communion for the spine. I therefore stamped and heat embossed the word Confirmation on a separate piece of white hammered card and matted it onto the same silver as the base of the cross topper. For this I used Versamark ink and silver detail embossing powder by Cosmic Shimmer.
