Every Tuesday Claritystamp releases a new YouTube Tuesday video. I made this card having watched one by Sam Crowe (see HERE). She is a genius with a gel plate and I had fun adapting her technique to create my version of her card.
I decided to stick to the round gel press petite that Sam used, but as you can see I changed the stamps that I used. I also used water soluble oil pastels to create the scribbles around the panels.
I brayered Bahama Blue acrylic paint onto the gel press petite circle and stamped onto a piece of 7" x 7" stencil card. I continued in this manner until the card was covered to my liking.
I added a step here by sponging Matt Bright Green acrylic paint round the edge of the gel plate using a foam pad, then going over each of the images. I watered down the Bahama Blue paint to add a wash in between the circles in the same way that Sam did. Next, I scribbled around each circle using coordinating and contrasting colours of water soluble oil pastels. I finished with a touch of black to make the circles pop. Before I started stamping, I cut myself a piece of copy paper to provide a mask around each circle. The stamping was done in Onyx Black Versafine ink and I heat embossed in detail clear powder. I started with Happy (Word Chain 2) and Birthday (Word Chain 3) and the hen from the Cockerel and Hen stamp set. Next I added the nest and the cockerel from the same set in the same way, as well as the honesty from the Honesty and Logs stamp set. To colour in the images I used Faber-castell Big Brush markers, keeping to a limited colour palette of four colours: Orange Glaze, Dark Naple Ochre, Caput Mortuum and May Green. To finish, I matted the topper onto black leaving a narrow border and added it to an 8" x 8" pre made white card blank. Thanks for the fabulous idea Sam and Claritystamp. I wonder what today's YouTube Tuesday will bring.

This is lovely, I saw Sam’s you tube and must have a try myself. X
I have yet to catch up on that You tube. Having seen several cards created from it I must do so. I like your take on it. Hope your son's girlfriend has a lovely Birthday. X
Sarah, this is just beautiful - and it looks like a lot of fun to use a gelli plate! I love the vibrant colors!
