I wanted to have a go at decorating a candle for a Christmas present. There are lots of YouTube videos that show you what to do and as I already had wax paper and tissue paper, all I needed was a candle!
I started by cutting a piece of white tissue paper to fit round the large church candle which I had bought. I carefully ironed it flat and used a stamp platform and archival inks to add the stamping. Merry Christmas from Word Chain 13 in Vermillion, One of the Wee Trees in Emerald Green and the Santa from Wee Folk set 7 in Jet Black (all stamps by Claritystamp).
I decided to add some additional trees using the Christmas tree from the Wee Folk 7 stamp set in Emerald Green. I wrapped the tissue paper round the candle, laid wax paper over the top and gently heated one of the ends of the tissue through the wax paper using my heat gun until it turned glossy through the wax paper, being careful not to over heat any areas. Once one end was held in place it was easier to get a tight wrap with the remaining tissue paper. I kept going, heating the tissue through the wax paper, until the whole piece had sunk into the candle. I had a wooden stand which was perfect for the base. This was my first attempt at decorating a candle, but I will certainly do it again! My mum decided that she had the perfect spot for her gift.
