Christmas Elf Candle

I decided that the new elf letterbox stamps and dies were perfect to decorate this small church candle to create some Christmas decor.

Monogrammed Candles Gift

I used the two of the Clarity floral alphabet stamps to monogram two candles.  They fitted perfectly into a gift basket for my Mum's birthday today.

Adding Stamping to a Candle using the Ornate Filigree Swirl Stamps

Maria Moorhouse can be seen at 9am, 1pm and 5pm today  on Hochanda with these ornate swirl stamps from Claritystamp.  The designs are also available as Groovi plates fro parchment work.  For my first project, I decided to decorate a candle.

Using the Quarterette Dies to Create A Decorated Candle

The new quarterette aperture dies from Clarity aren't only great for making cards and bookmarks, they are great for home decor too.  I used them to decorate a candle in this project.

One Layer Birthday Card

This is the last card that I made for the stamps launched last weekend as a one day special on Hochanda.  It looks multi layered, but in fact is only one layer thanks to the use of the masks which come with Tina's Summer Layering Stamps (both circles and squares) from Claritystamp.

From Empty Tin to Decorated Goody Box

I decorated one of these boxes at a workshop with Maria Moorhouse quite some time ago (see HERE) and decided to decorate a second box in a similar manner for my other sister.  Both boxes were filled with bath goodies as gifts.

Candle Decorating using Tissue Paper and Stamping

I wanted to have a go at decorating a candle for a Christmas present.  There are lots of YouTube videos that show you what to do and as I already had wax paper and tissue paper, all I needed was a candle!

Altered Powdered Milk Tin

One of the challenges to celebrate 5000 members over on JJAMMMA (Junk journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art) is to create a piece of free standing altered art.  I started with an empty powdered milk tin and ended up with a storage jar for brushes, decorated suitably using one of the new IndigoBlu stamp sets: Artist Studio.

Upcycling a Box using Mixed Media Techniques

Back in May I was lucky enough to attend an all day class with Maria Moorhouse, where we upcycled a metal box using mixed media techniques.  I absolutely love how my box turned out and I am very grateful to Maria for sharing her ideas.  The only change I made, was to use gilding wax rather than chalk paints to add colour to the embellishments.  As Maria had her last workshop yesterday it is now safe to share without spoiling anything for others.

Bleeding Tissue Background

Having used this method of creating a background for a previous art journal layout, I decided to try it again; this time as a background for a card.

For Manchester!

When I went to bed last night, I was planning on working on the 'tissue' prompt for week 21 of Art Journal Prompts today.  The news as I woke this morning led me to produce this page.  In memory of innocent lives lost, anger that children were targetted and pride for the reactions of the people of Manchester and the emergency services.

Journal52 Week 10: Truth

Although I am sharing this page after the next prompt for Journal52 has already been released, I actually completed it on Tuesday; one of three art journal pages in one day.  That is a record for me, but as I work on Thursday and Friday, I prepare some of my blog posts in advance.  I arrived at the quote that I wanted to use quite quickly, but my idea about the page was very nebulous until I found a sheet of 12" x 12" K & Co. paper which had birds on it.  One of them contained the word truth and I went from there.

Art Journal Prompts Week 11: Sparkle

I went a bit mad with this prompt; all my tinsel embossing powders were used - some for the first time - as well as my iridescent spray and sparkle.  I also tried a new technique for the background.
