One Layer Birthday Card

This is the last card that I made for the stamps launched last weekend as a one day special on Hochanda.  It looks multi layered, but in fact is only one layer thanks to the use of the masks which come with Tina's Summer Layering Stamps (both circles and squares) from Claritystamp.
I started by die cutting 7cm circles and squares from coloured tissue paper and laying them over a piece of stamping card (20cm x 13.8cm).
I spritzed the card liberally with water to allow the colour to bleed out of the tissue paper.  I then dried the card thoroughly until the pieces of tissue paper 'blew away'.  You can tell the pieces that were laid smooth side down as they did not 'bleed' as successfully.
Masking off sections as necessary to create a layered effect, I stamped a circle or square stamp over each shape in Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossed in clear embossing powder.  I had given the card a going over with an anti static pad first.

I went round the outside of the square shaped backgrounds with a black embossing pen and heat embossed the additional lines to frame the stamped images.
I decided not to add any further colour, but to let the background speak for itself.  Next, I added 'Happy' (mini word chains 1&2) and 'Birthday' (mini word chains 3&4) along the bottom, stamping and heat embossing in the same manner.
I trimmed the piece back to 19cm x 12.8cm.
The one layer piece was matted onto black card (20cm x 13.8cm) and added to an A5 white card blank.
I do love the technique of using masks to create a layered look on a flat surface.  Cheap tissue paper also makes a quick and easy background.

That's really clever.

I agree about the tissue paper always produces some great colours. This card looks great, lots of effective layering. X
