Layers of Heat Embossed Texture on a Birthday Card

I made this sample for the introduction of Leonie's Circus stencils last Friday on Hochanda.  It was the first time that I had used the Clarity Kraft card blanks to work with and I was impressed with the quality and the way that they stood up to multiple heat embossing.
For the topper panel, I cut the front off a 5" x 5" kraft card blank, laid the stencil over it and blended Ground Espresso through it using a blending tool.
Having cleaned and dried the stencil, i replaced it over the ink, blended Versamark ink through in places and heat embossed with Aged Taupe embossing powder (Stampendous).
I then repeated the process, but this time heat embossed in Aged Ivory.
In the centre of the topper, I drew round one of the figures from the edge of the stencil using an embossing pen, coloured in the lines with the same pen and heat embossed with detail copper EP.
I used a white gel pen to outline the figure and ribbons to help make it stand out against the background.
For the main card, i worked directly onto the front of a 7" x 7" Kraft card blank.  First I laid the edge of the stencil in one corner and outlined a section using a brown ProMarker with a fine nib attached.  Once the stencil had been removed, I coloured in the line art.
The stencil was replaced and heat embossing added in Aged Taupe and Aged Ivory in the same manner as for the topper.  I also added further embossing in the bottom right hand corner.
For balance, I repeated the process in the top left corner.
Before adding the topper, I went along two of the edges with an embossing pen and added detail copper embossing powder.
I stamped 'Celebrate Your Special Birthday' from Mini Word Chains 3&4 in the bottom corner using Versamark ink and heat embossing in detail copper EP.
To finish, I added a drop shadow to the words using a white gel pen.

I like Kraft card, this project has worked well. The stencils look great they remind me of the doilies my mum used. X

Now you have pointed out the figure on the stencil I can see a person with ribbons twirling around them. Another great project.
