Tag Tuesday: The Beach

The new fortnightly prompt for Tag Tuesday came out today and I couldn't resist getting straight on with my contribution for 'The Beach'.

I prepared a #8 Manilla tag with white gesso and once dry stamped the first image; the Treasure Seeker stamp designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions in Watering Can archival ink.  This was then painted over with Pebeo drawing gum to mask it off.
The Sandcastle in the Sun stamp (same designer and manufacturer) was then stamped in Tree Branch archival ink, dried and the drawing gum rubbed away; this creates the effect of the little boy sitting in front of the sandcastle.

Both images and the bottom of the tag were then coloured using Kuretake Clean Color pens from the 36 pen set.

To create the sky, I scribbled the 'blue' Kuretake pen onto my glass mat, squeezed some water from my water brush onto it to water the colour down and dabbed/painted it all over the top part of the tag.  I took great care near to the images which I had already coloured as I didn't want to reactivate the colours and contaminate the blue.
Finally, I added some Distress Crayon to both the sandcastle and the sky (Fossilized Amber/Scattered Straw and Faded Jeans), blended them out with my fingers.  I then stamped the Fun in the Sun stamp from the free stamp set called Sea Breeze which came with a copy of Creative Stamping magazine some time ago.  I used Versamark ink and heat embossed it in Bright White detail embossing powder by Cosmic Shimmer.  I then added some more blue behind the sentiment to emphasize it.
