Art Journal Prompts Week 25: Time

For the first time ever in 2017 I am completely up to date with the Art Journal Prompts and waiting for the new one to be published tomorrow!  For week 25 the prompt was time, which gave me the excuse to work with some more of the stamps and dies from the Time Traveller collection by Sheena Douglass.

Having flicked through my journal to find a background colour that I haven't used much, I decided on green.  The kraft card page in my journal had already been primed with white gesso and dried, so I added Forest Moss and Peeled Paint distress paint, blended with my fingers.
Once dry, I added an array of stamping using Fern Green, Leaf Green and Tree Branch Archival ink.  The stamps all represent some of my interests and hobbies (I left out football and reading).  Someone asked me where I found the time to do everything recently, and I decided to base my page around the answer.   The stamps used were the Crossword stamp from Docrafts to represent my interest in word and number puzzles, the Pencils and Paint Brushes stamps by Darkroom Door to represent my love of crafting and journaling, the Glee stamps by Technique Tuesday show my love of music and the Bits and Pieces #25 stamp by Crealies represent my liking for jigsaw puzzles.
In the meantime, I had stamped the pocket watch from the Timepieces stamp set and the large clock face from the Make Time stamp set (both by Sheena Douglass) onto a piece of brown card.  They were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with detail clear powder.  I attached some Stick-It to some more of the same brown card and used the coordinating dies to cut out the watch and chain and the clock overlay.  Once the Stick-It was removed, I added gilding flakes to both and burnished off the excess with a scoochy.  Antiqued Bronze distress paint was added to the stamped images and they were buffed up to remove the paint from the embossed areas.  Metallic Rub-Ons in Emerald and Blue from Colour Kit #1 were also rubbed over and buffed up.  The stamped images were trimmed appropriately and the die cut pieces added, before both items were glued to the page.
I added hands to the clock by die cutting the large ones from the Marianne clocks set, colouring them with Black Onyx Versafine ink and heat embossing them with clear powder.  A small brad was used to attach them to the page.
Finally, I added the quote from the Make Time stamp set, using Versamark ink and detail black embossing powder.  I separated the 'Time?' from the 'You'll never just find time, you have to make it' part of the quote as I thought the page looked more balanced that way.  The last touch was to go round the page with some Ground Espresso Archival ink.
