Art Journal Prompts Week 23: Bloom

This page is in response to the prompt 'Bloom' from Nina Ribena for the Art Journal Prompts Facebook group.

I don't usually use purple as a background colour, but I fancied a change from the usual blue, brown or orange that I favour and decided to try something different.  Having given my kraft card journal page a coat of white gesso and dried it with a heat gun, I dabbed on a mixture of Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac and Milled Lavender distress paint and blended everything out with my favourite tool; my fingers.
As usual, my second step was to add some stamped texture in a similar coloured archival ink.  For this I chose Blue Violet and Violet and used a selection of stamps designed by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous; Ledger Script, Slight Alterations and a couple of the Mixed Media stamps.

I stamped the Striped Sun Kissed Fleur stamp by Heartfelt Creations twice onto some Sheena's stamping card using Versamark ink and heat embossed the flowers with detail black embossing powder.  The matching die was then used to cut all the flowers out.  I arranged most of them across the page and once happy with the arrangement glued them into place using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue.  The whole page was then sealed with Distress Collage Medium and dried thoroughly, ready for adding Pitt Artist pens in Purple Violet and Caput Mortuum around and blending the colours out with my fingers.
The final step was to add the word 'Bloom' using the Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet (stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with detail black).  I also added white highlights using my Stabilo uni-ball white pen.
