WOYWW 593: All Pupils Back

Welcome to my weekly desk share with the lovely Julia, hostess of WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) at her Stamping Ground blog.

My desk shows my sketchbook as I am about to start today's inktober drawing 'Armour'.  You can see yesterday's contribution 'Dune'.  One of my art journals is out as I intend to make a start on the second October prompt for Mission Inspiration tomorrow, a page with a Halloween theme.  At the back you can see the lovely mask adapter that I was sent by Lynne (Lynnecrafts). Thank you very much, it works really well with my masks from LLJ.

Work should be back to normal today as our missing year group has finished self isolating and will be back in school.  My distance learning lessons have been a bit hit and miss over the last week.  They have gone really well when the network has played ball and bombed when it hasn't.  I will be glad to see them back face to face.

For those who don't know about inktober, it is a challenge each October to get people drawing.  A list of prompts is published with the idea that people draw something relating to each prompt every day.  You can draw a pencil undersketch and erase it once you have inked up the drawing.  The pieces are then shared using the hashtag #inktober and #inktober2020.  There are various unofficial prompt lists to work with, but I am using the official list.

Here are my contributions since last Wednesday.

It will be tomorrow before I am able to visit as there is a socially distanced (in bubbles) open evening after school tonight for prospective pupils to our school.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW everyone.

Hi Sarah, love the inktober dunes, chuckled at a few others too, looks fun, think I’d jump in with ink right away and save time but on other hand I prob wouldn’t do it all. Sorry you’ve been affected by COVID shut down there we have closed borders to Oz and haven’t had case here since April. Funny world we are in ..
Happy WOYWW.

Ha, great take on the ‘Fancy’ prompt...I wonder if any one who isn’t English will get it, does Mr Kipling operate in the US?! So glad that the isolating has finished, the vibe isn’t the same in distance learning really is it. It has made me very cynical about another part of govt. All this online learning that only works if the networks hold up...and yet they expect it. And they havent yet rolled out broadband too every village and area of the country let alone to the difficult to access. Argh.

I love the way you have tackled Inktober - great idea. Good luck back at school with your classes - it must be a nightmare trying to keep tracks on them all. xx Jo

Love your drawings - you have done really well with them but looking at the list I would not be able to do them. That is difficult to me. Are you going to do the ones that were up before you started? Would be nice to have the full month some time.
Glad things are back to normal at school, well as normal as it is these days.
Take care and stay safe and well Sarah
Hugs, Neet 14 xx

Happy WOYWW and hope you are enjoying your day back with all the pupils. I was thinking of joining in with Inktober, but just seemed to let the beginning of the month pass me by far too quickly. Your sketches are brilliant. Ali x #9

Brilliant little drawing, Sarah! Fancy is probably my favourite one - lucky it didn't come straight after the 'disgusting' prompt LOL. My son is hoping for a 2-week shutdown over half-term, even though he knows we're making him work harder at home, but he would like the lie-ins in the morning. A few kids had to self isolate at his school too but not the entire year group! Hope you're ok - just keep a safe distance from them. Lucky my son tends to isolate himself in his room when he gets home - for once I don't mind him doing it. Have a lovely week! xxzsuzsa #20

Hi Sarah. It has taken me all morning to pick up my click and collect order, so I am really late (for me) starting to work down the list - sorry! I love your take on some of those hints - they are great fun. Glad your pupils are all currently back in school - long may that continue!! Hope the parents and new pupil evening goes well.
Take care. God bless.

Sarah, hope the evening goes well. Such trying times. Our kids here across the pond have also given the opportunity to go back to school, but some still elect to self-isolate and learn virtually. Covid seems to be rising its head again and not sure that won't turn out to be another virtual school year again! Love all your Inktober contributions, but my fave is the "Hope" prompt! That's what the world needs to focus on at this stage of the game! I've never done Inktober, one day I will get brave enough!! LOL Happy Wednesday and blessings to you! Felicia, #22

Great sketches ~ I like your journal book too with all the bright colored leaves. Your drawers if washi tape make me smile! love the organization and the color arrangement. Virtual school has been a mess here and I just wish we could all go back to school already too. Blessings on your week ~ Karen#26

Great inktober pieces, I just don't feel in a place to commit to anything at the moment though this is a nice challenge - as easy or hard as you want it to be. Good to have your year group back but I think this is going to be a constant problem for those of you working in schools! Good luck! Happy Wednesday, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #21

Hi, Sarah!
I’m curious... how many journals do you currently have going? How many full and completed? I always have the best intentions but rarely follow through or lose them!

Still continue to take care as you live in your “new normal”

Happy Wednesday!

I like your Inktober sketches. I have done the first weeks prompts of Inktober, but I think I have done them too small. I do have a problem sometimes, even when I have worked out the area the sketch should fill it works out smaller than I wanted to. I guess more practice is needed. Happy WOYWW Angela #29

Your Inktober sketches are gorgeous, Sarah. The "disgusting" one is hilarious - what my hubby would describe as a "steaming heap." We've been talking about steaming heaps lately because he's been over to the village where we used to live, to collect bags of dung to put on our new rhubarb crowns!!! I remember collecting some once and not being able to see out of the back window of the car because it got all steamed up haha! Steaming heaps do rather fascinate me anyway, because having an ileostomy, one does tend to get a bit poo-obsessed. What fun!

I love your inktober sketches, especially the teeth... how they line up, it's a great drawing! Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday. In the Netherlands there were stricter rules announced in order to get the covid-number down but I am allowed to stay working at location - pfew! That's a release! Stay healthy and happy! Hi Sarah, sorry I'm late this week. I spent so long outside yesterday gardening that I just got behind with the desk visits. I think all we can hope for with the Virus is that they come up with the vaccine but at least you've got the class back. Hope the open evening went well too. Wishing you a happy belated woyww, Angela x19x

I love your interpretations of the prompts for Inktober! It must be fun looking at everyone's else interpretations as well! I'm almost tempted to try this list for myself (unofficialy!) I need to get back to drawing. Glad things are beginning to get back to "normal" at work, I can imaging how frustrating online teaching must be. Thanks for your earlier visit, sorry I'm so late, have a great rest of the week! Lindart #28
