Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VE Day

This is a tag that was made as part of a tag book several years ago.  However it seems the perfect project to share on today's 75th anniversary of VE Day and the end of the Second World war in Europe.
I had a piece of deli paper that had been used to mop up some light blue ink off a blending mat.  It reminded me of sky/clouds which was perfect.  I started by adding the deli paper to a #8 manilla tag, sealing it with matte medium, drying and trimming the excess.
The Union Jack stamp set from Clarity comes in three parts, the flag pole, the blue flag section and the red flag section.  I stamped the flagpole in Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Once cool, I coloured  it using a Cool Grey Big Brush marker.

Next I added a skyline across the bottom using the Rooftops mask and Jet Black Archival ink.

The flag was stamped in Vermillion and Cobalt Blue Archival ink onto a piece of card and fussy cut.

It was then added to the pole, taking care to fly it the right way up.

I added the prompt word using the Clarity Word Chain Alphabet and drew in the cord for the flag.

To finish, I added the date of Victory in Europe day (8th May 1945) using a fine Pitt Artist pen.

Wishing everyone peace on this 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
