Happy New Year to all my friends and followers. I hope that you will continue with me on my artistic journey in 2018. I created this having seen Nina Ribena's final art journal prompt video for 2017. The technique that I used for my background is an adaptation of Nina's fireworks background. Thanks for the inspiration Nina.I am also entering it into the Anything Goes Challenge on Country View Challenges.
I worked on the back of a 6" x 4" piece of glossy photo paper. I blended Indigo alcohol ink all over then added some blending solution to pounce bubble effects all over the page.
I then added drops of Botanical, Stream and Sunset Orange alcohol inks at the bottom, using a straw to blow the ink into frond like patterns.
On another half sheet of photo paper, I stamped one of the Tropical Fish stamps (Claritystamp) using Versamark ink and carefully heat embossed in detail black embossing powder. I then used Sunset Orange and Red Pepper alcohol inks to add colour. This was then fussy cut and added to the background. Using the left over scrap of photo paper, I added Pebble, Teakwood and Honeycomb alcohol inks as well as some Gold Mixative using the straw technique. I then die cut the starfish and frond from the Fish Bowl die set and the castle from the Underwater Accessories set (Sue Wilson Fillables). These were given a swipe with a Jet Black Archival ink pad to bring out the embossing and added at the bottom. It only remained to matt and layer onto white, black and stream coloured card, before adding the topper to a white A5 linen card blank.
