This page was created for the weekly challenge on Junk Journal Junkies and Mindful Art. This week's prompt was Space and the colours allowed are Blue/Green, Purple and Orange. I'm sure no one will be able to guess my favourite sci-fi show lol.
I worked on a piece of mixed media card cut to 19.5cm x 18.5cm to fit in my 8" x 8" spiral bound journal. I started with a layer of Violet Reeves acrylic paint, spread over the card with an old credit card.
I then added some of the Blue/Green Dyna iridescent acrylic paint from Pebeo using a very narrow strip of an old library card. The next step was to blend Reeves acrylic paint in Orange through the larger open areas of the Dissolving Planets stencil designed by Sheena Douglass. This was done with a blending tool and foam in several layers. I then used a very long narrow brush to draw some more of the previous colours across the 'planets'. I added further 'swirls' in the same manner across the background, introducing a little of the Orange/Yellow Pebeo Dyna iridescent paint in areas. At this point, I decided that there needed to be more of a focal point in the bottom corner and sponged several layers of the Reeves Orange paint through the half circle stencil which comes in the Framer Shapes 2 set by Claritystamp. Once dry, I added further depth with a natural sponge and some of the iridescent paint. I also decided that I needed to tone down the background to allow me to add the prompt word and quote, so went over some of the areas between the 'planets' with Violet paint and a clean natural sponge. The word 'Space' was stamped using the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp and the Blue/Green Dyna iridescent paint. Finally the rest of the quote (from Star Trek of course) was printed off using my Dymo Letratag in a large font and stuck into place.
