Wishing You Well: Sepia and Black

For this card I used the new abstract layout die from Clarity but a different floral stamp set.

Run the Abstract Layout 5 Aperture die through a die cutting machine over one of the large stamp board heart shapes.  This creates an imprint into the stamp board.
Stamp one of the Tina’s Doodles stamps from the Sunshine set into the centre in Sepia Archival ink and add some of the tiny hearts from the same stamp set.
Add further stamps from the Sunshine set around the edges in the same ink.
Brush Tea Dye Distress ink over the topper and add Walnut Stain Distress ink round the edges.

Die cut the layout die again from black card.
Glue the black die cut over the top of the heart and trim the ends to the shape.
To finish, add the topper to the front of a 5” x 5” black card blank.

Dear Sarah - hope you are well. This card is lovely.
Please could you clarify the first step - run a thick/mountboard heart through with the die. Is this just to mark the mountboard for placement of the stamps (and later black die cut), or is it meant to CUT the thick/mountboard heart?
Sorry to be a pain.
