Patchwork Birthday Card and Steampunk Top Hat Clock

I made this card for my sister's birthday today using the Clarity mixed media journal stamps.  I like the effect of mica powders and metal flakes on black card so built up a patchwork of colours in that way.
I worked on a piece of matt black card trimmed to 13.8cm x 13.8cm.  I stamped each journal stamp in turn in Versamark ink and used different coloured mica powders brushed over the top to create a patchwork effect.  In hindsight it would probably have been more effective on coated card.
For extra bling I stamped the harlequin butterfly over the solid mica version using metal leaf glue and added Pentart metal flakes, rubbing away the excess flakes.
I added Happy (mini word chains 1&2) and Birthday (mini word chains 3&4) in the same manner.
I felt that the piece wasn't quite balanced so added the grunge corner stamp in Versamark ink with blue mica powder over the top.  To finish, the topper was added to a 14.5cm x 14.5cm white card blank.
I made a gift for my sister from an MDF kit.  I started it at a workshop with Maria Moorhouse but finished decorating it last week.  It seemed to go down well.

It doubles as a storage box, so I hope she finds it useful.  Happy birthday sis!
