Christmas Pop Up Box Card: Part 1

I've had the Tattered Lace Essentials Pop Up Box die set for quite a while and have never used it.  I thought it was about time that I tried it out.  In today's post I'll share how I decorated the main box.  Watch out for tomorrow's post to see how I finish it off (I haven't decided yet).

I used the main die to cut out some Sheena's stamping card.  This is 300gsm so will stand up well.  I also wanted to use Distress Oxides and stamping to decorate, and this card is perfect for that.  I started by blending Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean and Broken China distress oxides over both sides of the die cut, spritzing each side with water and drying with my heat gun to create the oxidised effect.

For the stamping I used Versamark ink each time, heat embossing either in True White or Silver Shine detail embossing powder (Cosmic Shimmer).   I decided to use the Snowflake Kisses stamp set (designed by Lisa Horton for Creative Expressions) on the outside of the box (underside of the flaps).
For the inside of the box and the upper sides of the flaps I added a couple of stamps from the Midnight Waltz set to go with the snowflakes from the Snowflake Kisses set (also designed by Lisa Horton).  As you can see, I didn't bother decorating below the fold line as this becomes the inside of box once the tab on the left is glued to the right hand upright.
I love the effect that I have achieved so far, so watch this space for the finished piece.......
