Blackout a Colourful Background

This page was created for Challenge 40 on Junk Journal Junkies and Mindful Art.  The prompt was fire and the colours to be used were red, orange and black.  I decided to create a colourful background in reds and oranges and then use black around masked off areas.  I was inspired by the following quote image, so thanks to the unknown artist.
My version

The original inspiration.
I worked on a piece of mixed media card cut to 18.5cm x 19.5cm and laid down Dylusions paint in Postbox Red, Tangerine Dream and Squeezed Orange.
Archival inks were used for stamping (Vermillion, Red Geranium, Carnation Red, Monarch Orange and Orange Blossom).  All the stamps that I used are by Visible Image, starting with the largest stamp from the Ripple Effect set.
I then overlaid these with the Grunge Flourish stamp, a selection of Ink Splats and one of the Universal stamp set.
To finish, I went over the whole page with the splatter script stamp from the Scripted Streets stamp set.
I used the Ransom Alphabet Mask set by Tim Holtz to mask off the phrase 'Light A Fire' and added the Heidi Swapp Flame mask down the left hand side of the page.  I then dabbed Black Marble Dylusions paint over the whole page, allowed it to dry, then removed the masks.  Where the letter F crossed over the flame mask, I used a black Staedtler Triplus fine liner to bring the letter F to the front.
All I had to do then was to print out the rest of the quote in a medium font using my Dymo Letratag, trim round it and add it at the bottom.
