WOYWW 686: Enjoying the Break

I will probably be a little later than usual linking up with Julia and WOYWW today as it is the first Wednesday of my holidays.  Here is my desk yesterday after my new sopranino recorder arrived.

I have a Garklein Floetlein (the smallest recorder and an octave above descant) arriving later in the week and will probably leave my collection there.  I used to own a tenor recorder too but have no idea where it has got to.

I have updated all the resources and schemes of work for next year so far but still need to update all the curriculum leader paperwork including rewriting the progress maps in the new format.  I hope to have this finished by the end of the week so I can enjoy the rest of the holidays.

As you can see, I have finished my butterfly pages, completed four Paris based pages and have started a run of fantasy based pages (most recent is at the top).

The recorder concert went quite well last week although I still fluffed a few notes.  Rehearsals are every other Tuesday so had fun yesterday too.  Look forward to seeing what you all have on your desks this week.  Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

Great to see a musical instrument on the desks! Never mind if there’s a few bum notes, making music in a group is the best thing. Tuesday is my band night too so I shall think of you tootling away whilst I huff and puff!!

Hi Sarah, more great journal pages and loving the recorders. I Know I have one somewhere but not seen it for ages. They make a lovely sound. I am sure lots of people don't realise how much work teachers do when the school finishes for the summer. I always spent at least two weeks finishing paperwork, planning the lessons for the next school year and getting worksheet books typed up and then copied for the children. I could never get worksheets that were quite what I wanted so wrote my own and that's before I ordered all the new materials etc. Oh how I miss it! Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Great to see the different sized recorders. I thought there was only the basic one until I met my husband and I think we have a similar collection as in your photo. Not that they get played much. Son learnt a bit in school but he is a drummer really. I play the harp a bit and had a friend round today with her daughter to show her. I have lent her my small (19 string) harp to have a go with. I realise now that I'm not a beginner anymore, You only realise that when you give a harp to a complete newby and see the difference. Glad the concert went well and you are enjoying the rehersals. PS love the pirate page, made me smile. BJ#10

Good morning, Sarah!
You have educated me. I didn't know recorders came in different ranges. Makes sense, just never thought or heard of it. Thanks for sharing your collection. Is there one range that seems to suit you best? Love the journal pages. Playing in mine is on my list once the studio is back in order. I hope you enjoy your holiday! Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #21

Thanks for visiting my desk already, hope you are having a fabulous break? Oh those recorders brought my school days in the 70s straight back, I used to play the descant recorder then the tenor (I think it had a metal bar across the bottom?).
