WOYWW 574: Back to School we Go

Welcome to the weekly desk share with WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday) and my weekly shout out to Y7 and Y8 who are mostly not yet back in school.
I was in school on Monday and yesterday and will be in again today, so there is not much crafting going on. I have been trying to relax before work by making swatches for my latest bargain, the full set of 120 Albrecht Duerer watercolour pencils from Faber-Castell.  Craft Stash had a one day 30% off code if you spent more than £40 and as the full set of Polychromos were out of stock I went with these instead, as they were also on my wish list.
Some of you will have already seen the other new crafty arrival on my desk this week.  I can't wait to get reports out of the way so I can have a proper play.  I will be pre ordering the new June Distress colour from Art from the Heart as well.
This memory also popped up on my FB time line this week.  A happy reminder of last year's crop but a sad reminder that we should have been meeting up again next Saturday. Sorry I will have little time for visiting desks today, as I have been rather tired on arrival back home from school.  I will try and visit you all via Julia's Stamping Ground between samples tomorrow.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW.

Morning Sarah. What a bargain! - missed that... I, too, have been reminded this week that we were all due to meet up this coming Saturday - but yes, we WILL get together again. Hope school is going well - but what a change - actually meeting up with the pupils! No wonder you are tired when you get home - it's so very different.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Wow you lucky thing grabing that bargain, I have some Faber-Castell water colours only 10 in my box and cost me an arm and a leg but I love them. Will have to look on CraftStash site. ANi #2

I do hope all the new rules and regulations regarding school are not too stressful for you Sarah. A friend who is a teaching assistant in a primary came hoe from a meeting yesterday with a 72 page document to read through again (after discussing it at the meeting). I am so glad I don't have to risk going into school. I will be thinking of you.
Hope it is not too tiring after all this time off school, it must seem strange going back and their must be mixed emotions. Keep smiling and try to find time for some nice things in your life.
Like enjoying your new pencils. I watched a girl testing coloured pencils out on You Tube - 30 I think she had and Caran d'Ache Luminesce came out on top, think Polychromos were about 4th. Mind you I could not afford the Caran D'Ache ones.
Thinking of you
Hugs, Neet 9 xx

Isn't that something, WOW, all the colours. I really love them. I wish I had seen the bargain from Craft Stash ;) - I do hope you will recover from the school. Changes have its toll for sure.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Happy WOYWW

Well I’m not surprised your tired after school, all the normal stuff plus all the extra social distancing stuff to remember, and three days in a row...contrary to what your activity log looks like, we know you aren’t superwoman and expect you to be taking some down time Sarah! A very important time to remember to look after yourself after weeks of not much exposure.
Love the ‘bargain’ pencils, 30% made them much more accessible, huh. They are a joy to behold in their colour organised tin aren’t they, no doubt in my mind that you will get the very best from them. I’m looking forwards to your new Distress package from Art from the Heart too!

What absolutely fabulous new stash, Sarah! A positive rainbow of coloured pencils, and I must say I am tempted by the new Speckled Egg Distress range. Glad you are gradually getting back to work again. How nice to see the group photo of WOYWW-ers - I’d love to make it to a crop one day but I’m afraid it’s not likely to happen.

Happy WOYWW,

I have that set of pencils - it was a prezzy from my boys!! It is so beautiful and severely underused, it is an aim of mine to do more drawing. I was thinking of you back in school, hope the mechanics of keeping safe are all working ok.

Hi Sarah, I have to say I think I've been quite good so far in lockdown, bought way less than I usually do, lol. The pencils look fab,I do have a small amount of watercolour pencils, but never really used them. Hope the return to school is going well, Have a lovely week, Stay Safe, Hugs, Shaz #12 X

There is something really delightful about rows of coloured pencils. We had a good sort out this last weekend and as Miss B is now about to go up to secondary school, we passed on anything that wasn't a "proper" colouring pencil!! I love the idea of the swatches - I think we might have to have a go at that at some point with the eleventy billion we still have left... Best wishes, Lisa-Jane #17

That's a great set of pencils!
Looks like lots of play time is required!
So sad that the annual crop was canceled. I enjoyed seeing pics and putting names to faces.
Have a great week!

Hi, Sarah!!
I worry about the fact that you are back in school. Can you keep distances there? How many students in your room?

I also got the Speckled Egg Happy Mail. I did not order the full collection so I did not get the pin. I don't do much with the paints or stains and haven't tried any of the glazes yet. Please post how you get on with them.

Be careful, stay safe and Happy Wednesday!

HI Sarah, ooh fun group shot ( I recognize some of the faces) and I am impressed you are making the cheat sheets for the pencils too. :) hopefully the learning curve for what is needed to keep people safe will not be too steep and it will get easier sooner. ~Stacy #31

Hi Sarah! Gorgeous pencils! I always love making those colour swatches! I still need to check out the new speckled egg colour of Distress ink. I wonder what the new June colour is? Hopefully those reports will finish up quickly and you can start playing! Thanks for your visit, have a great week, stay safe, Lindart #32

Thanks for your visit, Sarah, and for your birthday wishes too. I had a lovely day. Simple pleasures! You don't need to do anything complicated or expensive to have a good time, do you! I'm glad you like the progress so far on the UFO. The blocking has partially solved the problem - it was absolutely fine when I first took it off, but it's still bigger on one side. I think once the bottom ribbing is on, and I'm wearing it, it won't notice too much - here's hoping anyway! I don't remember noticing it when I was wearing it before. I have now finished working on the neck and it's come out quite good, and will be improved once it is washed and pressed. Next step is the bottom ribbing, and then shortening the sleeves. There's a lot more work in this UFO than I originally thought, but it will be worth it in the end.

I laughed at your comment about our naughty kitties! I suppose they can't help it - their hunting instincts will out while there are baby birds around, but I could do without the gross crunching while trying to enjoy my breakfast in peace! Most of the time, they look as if butter wouldn't melt.
