And so things return to a normal routine in 2020. Back to work and fitting in crafting around the 'day job' as my father describes it. At least I only have to wait a day for each crafty 'fix' as I have every other day off. Not today though, so as usual this post is being written the day before ready to join in with WOYWW.
I am being rather naughty as I am showing you a sneaky peek of some secret stuff that I was working on yesterday ready for posting tomorrow on my next day off. I was using colouring pencils rather than my new water colours, not because the set that you saw on my desk last week aren't any good, but because I wanted a change of medium from my first couple of samples in this collection. I am happy with the Boldmere set of 72 water colour pencils that I bought from the Works. There is a great selection of colours, they go on smoothly and blend out nicely with water. They will certainly do me while I save for my dream Albrecht Durer Faber-Castell set of 120.
I can't show you the finished card that I was working on because the show isn't on until 18th January at 4pm. I can share one of my samples from the shows at the weekend though. If you'd like to know how I made it, pop back tomorrow. Unfortunately there is nothing to show on the other side of the desk as Eva couldn't make it over to play. Hopefully she'll be back in two weeks. I'll be round tomorrow morning to visit as I have a meeting after work this evening. Happy WOYWW everyone and don't forget to pop over to The Stamping Ground to visit chief desker Julia and links to many more desks.

Hope the return to school wasn't too terrible! At least you still manage to pack in some quality crafting time as well, you're good at doing that! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the programme, funnily enough the music wasn't the important bit but I think the community and camaraderie of playing in a brass band shone through. That's why I enjoy it so much!

Routine is much more productive, even for a procrastinator like me! Liking the stained glass look you’ve achieved with the die, how pretty.
I am intrigued... which colouring pencils are you using? I hope the back to school hasnt been too much of a shock this week. Happy WOYWW. Hope you have a lovely week. With love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#11)
I'm slowly coming back to my routine after the holidays. But can't seem to get back in the swing of my crafting...so it's flower making for me. Can't wait to get a good look at what you are working on!

Hi Sarah, love the card layout, fab design. Given me a lot of ideas, just seeing that! I take it thats one of the Clarity dies used for the cut outs? The background with your watercolour pencils does look great, The Works is so useful, isn't it? Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 X
Getting back into routine can be a challenge!
Have a great week!

I am one of those people who thinks there is always room for all the pencil sets you can gather Sarah so, that is fun to know that set is working well for you. ( I have some tiny watercolor pencil sets and I think they are my least used coloring medium I own or just above the powdered fly everywhere ones ha ha) :) ~Stacy #23
It's only right to be naughty some times. Wishing you a happy creative woyww, Angela x8x
Does back to usual mean Eva will be joining you? Or did I miss something?
I was always more productive when I was working full time, not part time though. On my work days, couldn't stop thinking about my day off. On my day off, stressing about work... retirement seems to suit me. :)
I love the sky you have achieved on this piece!
Happy Wednesday!
Hi Sarah, That card is fab.
Hope work went well.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW

I love your sample, it's gorgeous - you've achieved an amazing effect with the beautiful colouring behind the die cut, and the curtains are such a clever idea too.
Hope you have a good week - how lovely having every other day off and getting lots of crafty time in!

Love the sample Sarah, I bought some new watercolour pencils from Crafter's Companion to try out, well actually it was a bargain pack of a lot of their colouring mediums to try out. x Angela #27
Brilliant card, Sarah, and the curtains are a great idea for a finishing touch. I have a few windows in mind for card designs that I am going to design on Inkscape and cut with the machine. Sorry Eva couldn't make it this week but I am sure you will both be back into a "normal" routine before long. I love your colouring pencil set. I've got the Derwent Inktense ones and a couple of sets of ordinary watercolour pencils which I find I don't really use these days. The Inktense ones are fabulous for adding some colour to my Zentangle drawings because the colours are so vibrant.
Thank you for your visit. For ages I was terrified of Inkscape and felt completely daunted by it - I was on a forum for my cutting machine and everyone was using it, so I determined to master it, and suddenly something clicked and I was away! If you are not familiar with the way vector images are made, it might seem daunting at first, but eventually it becomes quite intuitive. You can see incredible examples online that graphic designers have done, but for our purposes all you need is to be able to make line drawings because that is what the cutter will recognise. Last night I started tracing some flower designs which I shall use with my new card templates.
The consultant's secretary phoned me back yesterday to say he had not seen my scan results! She said they have a very antiquated computer system and somehow the communication broke down somewhere along the line. Anyway, he wants to see me asap in outpatients, and they've booked an appointment for me at the end of the month. Let's hope something gets done soon, as a result of this. I'm glad I phoned to chase them up, and now I only wish I'd done it earlier but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Happy belated WOYWW,

Must be good not having to teach full time, if only I could have done that in my day!
Love the pencils, I have so many pencils I am spoilt for choice but not the ones you are saving for - good luck, hope you don't have to wait too long.
Hugs, Neet xx
