A gel plate makes a fabulous background. I like how layers can be built up whether you use ink or paint. For this project I lifted ink from the plate with a stamp before printing.
Blend Tenacious Teal Artistry ink over the 6” x 6” gel press plate using a speedball brayer. Lift some of the ink on all four sides using the edge of the Peacock Floral Urn stamp. Press down onto a 7” x 7” piece of stencil card.
Blend Green Garland ink over the plate in the same manner, this time remove ink at the corners using the stamp. Press the plate over the first print, lining up the edges carefully.
Pounce metal flake glue onto the stamp and add it to the print. Add further stamping in the same manner to the edges of the printed area. Add variegated copper metal flakes and burnish.
Trim back to 15cm x 15cm.
Add Celebrate (Word Chains 3) in Versamark ink and heat emboss with detail white embossing powder.
Mat onto a piece of stencil card trimmed to 15.5cm x 15.5cm and add to the front of a 7” x 7” black card blank.
I love how the main focal point is echoed in the background and the richness of depth that is achieved with this technique.

This looks fantastic. As you said the background is so effective using the same stamp as the one used with the gilding flakes.
