Clean and Simple Birthday Card

I made this birthday card for a friend whose birthday was yesterday.  I decided to look at some of my dies from a new angle and combined two with some stamping to fit what I wanted to say.
I had a square of white card cut using one of the Square Nested Picot dies from Claritystamp.
I laid the first ever die from the Clarity die club over the centre and cut an aperture.  The club is new to Clarity this year.  As a member I receive a new 3" x 3" aperture die each month, together with a full colour pamphlet with step by step instructions
for two projects.
I wanted to use the sentiment from the larger 'A Little Bird Told Me' Clarity aperture die, so I cut the bottom part of the die from black card.
Some judicious trimming with scissors and I had the sentiment that I required.
I stamped 'It's' from mini word chains 9&10 and 'Your Birthday' from mini word chains 3&4 along the bottom of the square panel in black ink.
Next, I added my die cut sentiment across the top using a sheet of wacky tack adhesive.
To create a colourful background, I blended Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers directly onto the front of a 6" x 6" card blank.  I used each colour in three places for balance and ensured that they were well blended together.  I always enjoy seeing how the different colours combine.
I glued the die cut panel  onto the card.
To finish and to provide balance with three areas of black, I used the #1 New Design Club die to cut an aperture from black card.  Some of the waste was used to paper piece the bird.  This also helped link the sentiments to the image they refer to.
I am really pleased with the finished piece and will definitely use the same colour combination for future backgrounds.
