A Combination of Distress Oxide Sprays, Distress Resist and Stencils

This is the first of the samples that I made using stencils designed by Leonie Pujol for Claritystamp.  Even though the new circus stencils are 9" in diameter, small areas can be picked out and used in combination with previous releases.  I had another play with my Distress Oxide sprays too!
I started by covering a #8 manilla tag with a piece of Romanian book text.
I coated part of the Arty Arrows stencil with Versamark ink , laid it face down onto the tag and ran it through an embossing machine to transfer the ink.  It was then heat embossed in clear embossing powder.
I then sprayed Mermaid Lagoon and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Sprays over the tag.  The first time that I did it, I sealed the book text with matt medium.  As you can see, the technique didn't work very well.
When I left the surface porous by only using matt medium underneath the book text, both the embossing and sprays worked much better.
I laid the clean, dry stencil back over the top of the dry tag and added Distress Resist Spray through the apertures.
I then went over the embossed lines with a black ProMarker to emphasize them.
Using the circus stencil, I laid it over the bottom corner of the tag and outlined one of the little figures that run all round the edge with a fine black micron pen.  I then filled in the line art with the black ProMarker.
Using the stencil as a guide, I added narrow ribbon, holding it in place with invisible thread and cutting slits in the tag at either end to start and finish the ribbon on the back.
Next I added one of the Snarky Small Talk stickers by Tim Holtz, which I cut into three.
Next I added highlights using a white gel pen.
To finish, I added some of the same ribbon in two colour ways through the hole at the top of the tag, trimming the ends diagonally.
